Once you hit the space stage, you have the whole galaxy to play with, but the problem with the original is that there is only so much to do. Galactic adventures provides the Space stage with a HUGE amount of new content and types of adventures. You can not only expand your empire and upgrade your ship, you can now upgrade your ship commander and do missions on the planets more like Creature Stage..
If you enjoy Spore as much as my kids and I do, this is a must-have. While searching for Spore, Since the stores no longer carry it and i needed to replace my daughter's missing game, i came across the expansion pack. My daughter who loses interest in things quickly still loves this game after a few years of having it so while i was replacing her game i picked up the expansion pack as well.
To see she loved was ecstatic when she got it is an understatement. She was also glued to the computer for two full day's playing it before i had no other choice but to give her a time limit so her sister could get a turn,. I installed it properly on the computer and it deleted my spore game. All my years of progress and cant even reinstall the original spore game. Admittedly having trouble getting some of the adventures to come up, but more than anything I love the ability to make adventures yourself, and it isn't all that complicated, either.
Be sure when you first load an adventure you got online that you are online. The user-created resources do not automatically come with the user-created adventure, and you have to be online for the game to automatically download them, which can take practically forever if the user has made all their own resources. That, and the game's annoying habit of downloading random stuff are the only two downsides. Still five stars.
Apparently, one needs to buy the expansion from the same source. If not, it simply will not install. This did not install, it is useless to me. Might be something you want to warn folks about. I bought this for my 11 year old for Christmas. He has the original and really wanted this to add since all of his worlds hit the Tribal level on the original one.
He loves it! The ability to create cities and explore space adds another layer to the game. Also, you have the option of sticking to the original game levels or moving to this one, so my daughter can play the easier, original levels and my so can play these. It is a lot more complicated playing this one because of the added task of creating a complicated civilization, so younger kids will need a little help in the beginning in terms of object placement, leadership, etc.

Later in the game, the player can purchase a wormhole key which enables them to travel through black holes , offering instant transportation to a sister black hole.
There are around , planets in the game's galaxy orbiting around , stars including Earth and its star, Sol. Players can make contact with other space-faring civilizations, or "empires", which sport many different personalities and worldviews, ranging from diplomatic and polite species willing to ally, to distrustful, fanatical empires more willing to wage war. Completing missions for an empire improves the player's relationship with them, as does trading and assisting in fending off attacks. When the player has become allied with an empire, they can ask certain favors of the empire.
If the player becomes enemies with an empire, they will send a small fleet of ships to attack the player's ship as soon as they enter their territory. One of the main goals in the Space Stage is for the player to push their way toward a supermassive black hole at the galaxy's center, which introduces the game's final antagonists, the Grox, a unique species of cybernetic aliens with a powerful empire of systems surrounding the core. Getting to the center of the galaxy and entering starts a cinematic in which the player is introduced to Steve. After the cinematic dialogue with Steve ends the player is shot out of the black hole, and gets rewarded with the Staff of Life.
